Im not sure batch processing is the tool i need to use. I normally have hundreds of pictures to edit every day, they are without fail too dark etc. how do i automate firstly auto contrast, then selective colour/white/+10. If i could get this working it would save soooo much time!
I use Adobe Photoshop 7.0
Any help at all would be really appreciated.

If the calculations are exactly the same... what you are looking to do is create an action. The manual/helpfiles do a decent job of explaining how to set it up, but basically this is how it goes:
Create a new action in the actions palette.
Press record in the actions palette.
Do whatever you need to do to your image.
Press stop recording in the actions palette.
Now you should have an action that performs the task you want stored for future use. You can "play" that action on a document to perform the exact task again and again. If you set up a batch or droplet, you can perform that action on as many documents as you would like.

Thanks :) It seems to be working well except one thing, when it opens the a pic i get a popup about embedded colour profile and what i wish to do, and then when it saves the image another one for the quality of the save etc.
In automate/batch theres an option to skip open dialogs etc but it isnt stopping these boxes popping up.
Is there any way to skip these or turn them off?

The key is not to save the images in the same folder they are originally in:
supress the color profiles and choose a new folder to save the images in. you will then have to go back and delete the original images after the batch has finished, but you shouldn't have to click OK a thousand times.
you can do the same thing with a droplet and save the droplet to your desktop. then you will only need to drag the folder of original files over the droplet.
I resize hundreds of images a day, and this method saves a lot of time.
