Did I see this in a dream? I can't for the life of me remember why I think I saw this, but I swear I saw a preference somewhere in PS that told photoshop to open all images at 16.7%. You may be wondering why on earth I would want such an option, but it would come in handy sometimes when opening multiple images of the same size when there is a mix of verticals and horizontals. This way the horizontals would not completely fill the screen, making it easier to navigate through the open images when they are stacked on the screen. Anyone? Am I crazy?...Don't answer that.

Hey! It's a long time we haven't heard from you, Brooks!
Help us help you: what version of photoshop?
Did you chek your preferences settings? isn't there a scale image with window in there?

16.7%?...so, I think you're working with pretty large images.(for eg. 3000*2000)
Try Window>Workspace>Reset Pallet Locations
I heard someone solved same problem as you by adjusting only toolbox's location.

Well, when I wrote the question I was serching for this option in CS (8) on the Mac, but it could have been in PS 7. I only have PS 6 on my old iMac 233 here at home, so I can't check this, but might it be something I saw in the "batch" or "web gallery" dialog box?
As far as the pallete locations, well, that would work, but I've always used two monitors, so I'd have to move a pallete over to the main screen every time I wanted to do this.

I've never heard of something like this in Photoshop. You can resize batches of images by a percentage with actions... but having them open to a specific zoom isn't really something I think you can do.
Maybe you could write an action that set your images to a certain zoom, and then after all your images are open, just run the batch on "currently open documents". That might be a workaround for lack of an actual "feature".

In Photoshop CS, there is in the view (or window?) menu an option to match the zoom and/or pan of the currently opened image, it should be that causing the problem... but I can't test as I don't have CS yet...

In PS CS, you can use Window>Arrange>Match Zoom
I don't know this will do for you. $}

This is a very old thread, however, there is a solution to this by using the Script Event Manager in the File>Scripts menu.
Record your Action and do an Insert Menu Item then select View>Actual Pixels and then do it again and select View>Zoom Out. Stop your Action and copy this last step four more times in the Action Palette. Name the Action something appropriate (like "16.67%").
Now go to File>Script>Script Events Manager.... Toggle ON "Enable Events to Run Scripts/Actions:", then choose "Open Document" from the "Photoshop Event:" pop-up. Click on the Action radio button and select your Action from the remaining two pop-up menus and click "Done."
Now every time you open an image in Photoshop it will automatically resize the view of the image to be 16.67%.
Alternatively, you could use this script in the Script Events Manager
17678
When saving this, be sure to change the suffix ".txt" to ".jsx".
MOD: Thread moved to proper forum
