I want to be able to paste a 4x6 image into a sloppy border. They are 2 seperate files and I wonder if there is any way to do this as a batch. If I was doing 1 or 2 it would be no issue. I have hundreds to do this to. I hope someone can advise me as to if this is possible.

hello, unregistered. does all the files have the same size, and the sloppy border too?

If yes, just create an action: edit>copy the border, then edit>paste the border (assuming it is on its own layer) to the image file.
Change the blending mode of the border if needed. You can now stop the action.

Now, close the image that you used to paste in the border, but keep the border image open, and the layer of the border highlighted in the layer palette.

Go to the automate>batch menu, the action should be selected. Select the source and destination of the files... you should be ok...

To know everything about actions, batch, I suggest that you read Danny Raphael's excellent tutorial: http://www.atncentral.com/tutorials.htm

Thanks Pierre.
This is a friend of mine and I told him to ask his question here.
I might be able to give some more detail as to what he's trying to do.

The sloppy border image he is using has a 4x6 area of black in the center. The file itself is slightly larger than 4x6.

The other files are 4x6 in size and he is pasting them into the sloppy border image so they automatically center.

When he tries to run the action he gets an error that says something to the effect that the "previous image cannot be found"

Do you think they need to be the same size? Also, do you think the direction of the paste is important? I'm not on a machine with Photoshop, so I can't test it.

Thanks!

Late to the party, but this might be useful to someone in the future.

Attached is an example action that I believe will achieve the desired results. The Canvas Size step will need to be rerecorded to reflect the actual dimensions of the Sloppy Border image. If you don't want the image flattened before it's saved, uncheck the Flatten Image command at the end.

After the action has been modified above:
* Create a folder to received the processed images, e.g., \Done

* Close all open images

* Open the Sloppy Border image. Make sure it's flat (Background only).

* Click on the action name so the action highlights in the Actions Palette as though you're going to play it (but DON'T click PLAY).

* File > Automate > Batch

* The action set and action should be preselelected

* Source: Folder. Choose: Browse to the folder where the source images reside.

* Destination: Folder. Choose: \Done (folder created above)

* Click OK. This will automatically open each image in the source folder, expand its canvas so its the same size as the Sloppy Border image, copy/paste the Sloppy Border into the target image, convert the Sloppy Border layer into a Background and place the altered image in \Done.

Try this and see how it goes.
