View Full Version : Problem with 'Save for Web' [Action]

Somethimes, when I use the 'Save for web' option, choose 'gif 128 Dithering' and click on the save-button, PS wants to save an html-file (like slices in Imageready).
When this occurs I have to rename the file-extension into gif and choose 'pictures only'.

This sometimes becomes a problem with actions and batch-processing.

For example: I've made a simple action which resizes all pics to 180 pixels and saves them as gif for web. This action stops, when the 'save for web' option wants to save the file as html.
I want the gifs to have the same name as the original file, so I can't just name them pic001, pic002 and so on.

Has this something to do with the original files being bmp's?

Does someone know a solution to this problem?

BTW: I use the german version of ps 7. So excuse me, if I named some buttons, functions or options wrong.

I would save a file manually as a gif, go back into the save for web and see if it saved your previous settings. (gif instead of html) if it did save your settings when you did it manually then the html settings might be in your action. Then I'd suggest making a new action from scratch.

If however it didnt save your settings when you did it manually, and your on a windows system I'd just delete the settings folder.
\documents and settings\login\application data\adobe\Photoshop

If those dont fix it well... I just dont know <G>

Good luck!

Thanks Covenant

I've deleted the settings folder but it didn't work.
It seems that this problem only occurs when the original file is a bmp. $}

And where would that be?

Um... here?

This thread was originally posted in the General Discussion forum and is specifically about an Action. When the Action & Scripting forum was created last year, the archives were mined for threads pertaining to these issues and moved here. This was just one of many that were moved.
