View Full Version : photoshop cs question (raw editing)
i appologize in advance for the clumsiness of this question:
I just got adobe CS today, hoping i would be able to quickly edit Raw files, one after another (similar to how thumbs plus edits jpegs). So far, as far as i can figure it out, you have to open each raw file, correct it (or apply a pre-saved correction), save it as a jpeg, and open the next. I would like to be able to do all this, preferably using hot keys to save time, without the extra steps (and extra processing time)?
basically, i'm looking for a way to breeze through about 500 Raws at a time, just doing quick brightness/contrast/saturation edits.
i have a feeling i can't do what i want in photoshop, but i thought i should go ahead and ask around first. if i do have to get another program to do what i'm hoping, does anybody have any recomendations?

Hey there, PS is definitely the tool you want to use for this job. My initial suggestion is to learn about Actions, which allow you to record any number of steps, that can then allow you to run the same steps, on any image. The second topic, you'll need to bone up on is Batch Processing, which lets you play an action on a folder of files.
Th Help files and the user literature, cover both of these very well. If you need more, a quick Google will get you more than you can handle.
They're both pretty simple concepts, and you'll be up and running in no time.
Good luck.%/

thanks for the reply...
i've actually got the batching and actions figured out, the tricky thing is that all the photos need thier own specific corrections, so i can't run a batch to do it all.
i guess i could bring them up in a thumbnail view, find the first photo of a group of similar photos edit it the way i want it, select the rest of the simalar ones and apply the previous setting to that group...
that still takes longer than i'd like... is there a more direct way to do this -- i guess is what i'm asking.
p.s. i should really think about regestering here...
